Palma de Mallorca
Spanish island bliss
The Balearic island with many faces.
Historic towns, unspoilt bays, sleepy villages and lively nightlife - what's not to like?
Palma - the capital
It's easy to get lost in one of the Mediterranean's most beautiful old towns - lucky you!
What could be better than drifting along the winding streets and sampling typical dishes and produce (the best paella is said to be at the "Bar Joan Frau" in the indoor market of Palma's trendy Santa Catalina district)? The centrally located Plaza Mayor is the lively hub of the city with its cafés, shops and street performers. You can see and feel history when you visit the magnificent La Seu Cathedral or the Palacio de la Almudaina.
But do you also fancy the ocean? A walk along the Paseo Maritimo, the beach promenade, is always a great experience. The palm-lined path leads along impressive buildings past Palma's imposing marina to the former fishing village of Portixol.
An island with many different facets
Ballermann? Yes, of course! But also so much more...
Mallorca is a hotspot for party people and night owls, but also a dream destination for nature lovers, sun worshippers, golfers and bon vivants. Fantastic bays, breathtaking cliffs, hip beach clubs, idyllic villages in the interior, sophisticated harbour towns, top gastronomy and quaint tapas bars, lively beach hotels and dreamy fincas: hardly any other holiday destination has so many different faces, each more beautiful than the other.
