Site development at Klagenfurt Airport

About Klagenfurt Airport

Klagenfurt Airport sees itself as an integral part of the region’s infrastructure, a driver for economic innovation and a partner for Carinthian tourism. The airport makes a significant contribution to the economic development of the region. The ownership structure of the company – 80% of the shares are held by Kärntner Beteiligungsverwaltung and 20% by the city
of Klagenfurt – underscores the trust in a sustainable and forward-looking development. This foundation makes it possible to advance innovative projects in the field of land development while at the same time creating optimal conditions for businesses, investors and the introduction of new business partners.

Available Development Areas at Klagenfurt Airport

Available Development Sites

The airport also has large areas of land that are not required for operational purposes and offer great potential for investment at an international commercial airport. The development of these areas, with the possibility of a connection to a runway, is a rarity in Central Europe. The areas are made even more attractive by their immediate proximity to the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt, a direct motorway connection (A2) and a possible railconnection. These areas are ideally suited for projects that are compatible with airport operations. The properties remain under the ownership of the airport operating company and are granted to third parties through long-term usage rights. To ensure maximum transparency and fair competition, the available areas are being advertised for tenders throughout Europe. The competent authority for the approval of these projects is the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI).
